History & Development of the Institution –

          𝔹𝕒𝕣𝕣𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕣 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕜𝕦𝕣 ℂ𝕙𝕙𝕖𝕕𝕚𝕝𝕒𝕝  College of Agriculture & Research Station (BTC CARS), Bilaspur is the constituent colleges comes under the administrative control of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur, C.G. Earlier, it was a Regional Agricultural Research Station and on 20^th September, 2001, this was converted and established as a College of Agriculture and Research Station and renamed as “Barrister Thakur Chhedilal College of Agriculture & Research Station, Bilaspur C.G.

 The mandate –

• To serve as a centre of excellence in teaching, research and extension.
• Conduct site specific research on varietal development, identification of new genotypes for the region, research on fruit & vegetable, agro-forestry, irrigation water management and conservation of medicinal plant species   etc.
• Transfer of technology to farmers and extension personnel’s engaged in agricultural development through various extension programmes.

Programmes at a Glance (UG) –

• BTC CARS is carrying a four years undergraduate degree programme of B.Sc. (Ag) since 2001-02.
• Presently, total intake capacity of Under Graduate Degree Programme – is 74 including 07  of  ICAR nominees. 

Eligibility for Admission in U.G. –

           Students passing 10+2 examinations with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, Agriculture with English or Hindi subjects is the minimum requirement for admission to B.Sc. (Ag.) degree course.  Admission to ICAR candidate(s) is given as per the rules of the university. Reservation rules are applicable for SC, ST. OBC, female, physically handicapped, freedom fighter and the candidates of other categories as per norms of the state government. The selection of students is made through the merit list of Pre Agriculture Test (PAT). The test is being conducted by the State Professional Examination Board. The certificate in this regard needs to be compulsorily submitted at the time of counselling. Student must not be below the age of 17 years on 31st December of the admission year. The admission rules of state government are applicable. College follows the Academic Regulations for Bachelor Degree Programme, faculty of agriculture, B.Sc. (Agriculture) effective from 2010-2011 by Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya  Raipur (C.G.) 492 006 vide order of VV No. ACD/ACM 67/2010 /1390 dated 18/06/2010.  Curriculum is being develop and modified time to time by University. Presently, our college has adopted the curriculum as prescribed and recommended by 5^th   Deans’ Committee.

 Programmes at a Glance (PG) –

• Post Graduate Degree Programme in four disciplines viz. Agronomy, Horticulture (Vegetable Science), Entomology and Genetics and Plant Breeding was started in the year 2015-16.
• Presently, total intake capacity in Post Graduate Degree Programme is 23, 04 seats each in Horticulture (Vegetable Science), Entomology and Genetics & Plant Breeding along with 10 seats in Agronomy. One additional seat has been reserved for physically challenged.
